Welcome to the Amarillo Police Department

The City of Amarillo is proud of its professional and progressive Police Department. The Professional Standards Office of the department insures the department and employees comply with internationally developed standards. Amarillo consistently has one of the lowest crime rates of comparably sized cities in the state and nation, which serves as a proven record of its fine police force.

The Amarillo Police Department is active in several national crime prevention and police assistance programs - Crime Stoppers, Neighborhood Watch, and other local, regional and statewide programs. As evidence of the community support and the Amarillo Police Department's commitment to such programs, the Amarillo Police Department has received first place awards for public service announcements at the Texas Crime Stoppers Convention competition and the Crime Stoppers International competition.

The Amarillo Police Department includes all functions typical of police services including the use of specialty units and programs. The Police Department continues to be an effective and visible asset in protecting and serving the citizens of Amarillo.
