On Wednesday February 27th, at 12:28am, APD officers were sent to the Amarillo Civic Center on a burglar alarm. Responding officers secure the perimeter of the building and waited for additional officers before making entry. Once the building was secured officers approached the building and observed a male subject inside. The suspect was walking down one of the hallways when he observed officers on the outside. The suspect then turned and ran in the opposite direction. Officers on the other side of the Civic Center then observed the male subject matching the description walking away from the building. The subject was taken into custody and placed in a patrol car. Further investigation into the burglary found that the suspect had taken a fork lift from inside the Civic Center and used it to force up a roll up door on one of the concession stands. The suspect was later identified as Christopher Stephen Beck W/M 33 of Amarillo. Beck was booked into Potter County Corrections Center on a charge of Burglary of a Building.
