***UPDATED 2-13-13 10:20 AM-*** On 2-12-13, at about 4:45 PM, an APD investigator saw a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer that matched the description of the vehicle being sought in connection with this robbery. Officers stopped the vehicle near 6th and S. Harrison.  There were two people in that vehicle. They were released without charges.  Investigation of the vehicle led officers to the identity of a possible suspect.  At about 8:00 PM, officers located that suspect as he stepped out of a vehicle on the parking lot of apartments at 1710 SE 34th. Officers took Steven Edward Boyd BM 28 of Amarillo into custody on municipal warrants.  Evidence linking Boyd to the robbery was later recovered from an apartment in that complex.  Boyd was booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of robbery and the three traffic warrants.  This case is still being investigated and formal charges are pending.
***UPDATED 2-12-13 4:45 PM***APD Robbery investigators have released a video of the robbery today.  It shows the suspect walking into the bank, committing the robbery, and walking out.  Also released is a video of a vehicle seen yesterday at about 10:00 AM at another bank parking lot.  Investigators have information that leads them to believe that the driver of that vehicle was preparing to commit a robbery.  The physical description of a person in that vehicle matched the description of the person in the robbery on 34th.  The vehicle is a blue 2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.  It has a luggage rack on the roof.  The license plate is not readable in this video.  Investigators are seeking the owner/driver of the blue Chevrolet.�
On February 12, 2013, at 9:28 AM, officers were sent to the First Bank Southwest at 5701 SW 34th Avenue on a reported bank robbery.  Witnesses told officers that that the suspect walked in the front door, coming from the west side of the building.  The suspect was a male of unknown race, about 5ft. 7inches tall, medium build, wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded jacket, white gloves, and dark pants.  He had his hand inside a jacket pocket as though he had a weapon.  He was carrying some type of small travel bag.  He approached a female teller and told her to give him “all the cash.”  The teller handed him money from the drawer.  The suspect put the money in the bag and walked out of the bank.  He ran to the east and then south.  No one was injured, no weapon was seen, and there is no information about a suspect vehicle available.   �
