On Sunday February 10, 2013 9:39 PM, an APD officer observed a panel truck strike a pole 734 N. Pierce, knocking down the pole and leaving the scene of the accident. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle attempted to evade officers and they discontinued active pursuit when the DPS Helicopter took over observation of the truck.  At NE 34th/ Grand the panel truck turned back towards officers who were stopped on N. Grand causing them to take evasive action to get out of the path of the vehicle. The officers re-engaged the pursuit and the DPS Helicopter continued to follow the truck.  The truck continued to flee until it reached the 1400 block of Hilltop where it struck a house and the driver fled on foot. The driver was apprehended after a short foot chase. The panel truck was found to be stolen from a local business. Eric Ramos, W/M, 30 of Amarillo was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on charges of  Evading with motor vehicle, Unauthorized Use of  a motor Vehicle and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
