On 1-10-13, at about 10:30 AM, APD Community Oriented Policing/Problem Solving Unit (COPPS) officers met contractors at the unoccupied hospital building at 2828 W. 27th. Officers were assigned to check the building for trespassers before the workers secured the building. When the officers arrived, the construction workers told them that they had just seen a man stealing things from the building, loading them into a beige Chevrolet pickup, and driving off the parking lot. The witnesses reported that a male and female were in the vehicle involved in the burglary. Within minutes, officers found the suspect pickup in the alley behind 3009 “B” Curtis. Stainless steel railing and copper pipe taken from the hospital were in the bed of the pickup. John Patrick Boehm WM 42 was in the pickup. He was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of burglary of a building. Brent Joseph Perkins, WM 24, and Rachell Lynn Daniels, WF 26, were both found near the pickup that was involved in the burglary. Officers detained them. Daniels had the keys to a GMC vehicle with her. Auto theft investigators assisting at the scene advised officers that a red 2000 GMC Yukon with the keys in it had been stolen from an open garage in south Amarillo the day before. Officers checked the area and found the stolen red GMC Yukon about a block away, in the 2700 block of Duncan. Daniels was arrested booked into the Randall Co. Jail on charges of theft over $1500/under $20,000 in connection with the vehicle. Officers searched Perkins and found he was in possession of what appears to be less than one gram of methamphetamine, prescription pills, and narcotic paraphernalia. He was booked into the Randall County Jail on narcotics charges and on two traffic warrants.
During the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause and were issued a search warrant for narcotics at 3009 Curtis #B. Officers served the warrant and found four adults in the home. Holly Kellene McClanahan WF 46 of that address was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia due to a small amount of narcotics and paraphernalia found in the home. Two of the three other adults were released without charges, and Toni Lynn Solomon WF 50 was arrested on a traffic warrant.
