On 1-8-13, at about 4:00 PM, officers were sent to Diana’s Tamales at 701 Amarillo Blvd. West on an armed robbery. There were two female employees present during the robbery. One employee reported that a black male came into the business at about 3:45 PM and purchased food. He returned at about 4:00 PM and ordered more food. He handed the victim a bill to complete his purchase. When the employee opened the register to make change, the suspect produced a handgun with a long barrel, said “Give me that,” and reached into the to the open cash register drawer. He took money from the drawer and then ran south on N. Madison Street. The robbery victim said that the suspect was a black male age 20-25, about 5 ft. 9 inches tall, slim, wearing a green hooded jacket with the hood up and dark colored sweat pants. At about 4:30 PM, an officer in the area saw a black male that appeared to match the description of the robber near 6th and N. Jefferson. The officer stopped to talk to the man. When the officer asked the man if he could speak to him, the man told him that he had a gun. The man then began pulling a handgun out of his jacket pocket as if he intended to show it to the officer. The officer had the man place the .38 caliber revolver he was carrying on the ground. He was then taken into custody. He was interviewed by robbery investigators and later booked into the Potter Co. Detention Center for unlawfully carrying a weapon. He is not charged with and is not under arrest for this robbery. No one was injured in this robbery and the case remains under investigation.
