On 12-17-12, at 6:15 PM, officers were sent to the 5900 block of Amberwood on a deadly conduct call. The victim, a 21-year old Amarillo resident, reported to officers that a male had shot at him on Bell Street and was now in the home on Amberwood. He told officers that the suspect was driving in front of him in a tan Toyota Camry and applied his brakes in the 2200 block of S. Bell. The victim, driving a gray Nissan Pathfinder, then pulled in front of the suspect’s Toyota and applied his brakes. The suspect allowed him to pass and then started following the victim’s Nissan very closely, continuing south on Bell. The victim stopped his car near Everett and Bell and waited for the man in the Toyota to pass him. Instead, the driver and only occupant of the Toyota stopped behind him. The suspect got out of the car, armed with a handgun, and fired one shot in the victim’s direction. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and drove away. The victim followed him to the home at 5924 Amberwood and called the police. Officers made contact with Donald Douglas Ditto WM 68 at the Amberwood address. He matched the description of the suspect in the incident. He was taken into custody and booked into the Randall Co. Jail for aggravated assault. Officers seized one .357 caliber revolver from the home. Officers did not find an impact point of the shot fired on Bell Street.
