Robbery Family Dollar Store 433 S. Western

On 12-17-12, at 9:50 PM, officers were sent to the Family Dollar Store at 433 S. Western on an armed robbery.  Responding officers learned that two female employees were in the store at the time of the robbery.  One was near the cash register.  The robber entered through the front door.  He approached the employee behind the counter, produced what was described as a black semiautomatic handgun, and demanded the money.  The employee gave him the cash on hand.  The man put the money into some type of white bag that he brought with him and then walked out of the store.  He was last seen walking south from the front door of the store.  The armed robber was a black male, about 6 feet 6 inches tall.  He was slim, and his face was covered by a red ski mask.  He was wearing a grey hooded jacket and dark blue jeans.  He was wearing thick, dark colored gloves.  His clothing was described as baggy.  No one was injured and there have been no arrests.  If you have any information about this incident, you can call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.  Information leading to an arrest can earn a reward of up to $1000, and Crime Stoppers callers always remain anonymous.
