On Tuesday December 4th just after 5pm, officers were sent to the Amarillo National Bank at 4501 S Bell reference a forgery in progress. The first officer on the scene approached the driver and asked him to step out of the car. The driver refused to comply with the officers commands and eventually maneuvered his vehicle out of the drive up teller lines and sped away. Officers pursued the vehicle for a very short time, but due to the traffic conditions the initial officer called off the pursuit. The bank employees and obtained a vehicle and suspect description and gave that to the officers. While officers were checking the residential area where the suspect possibly lived, a different officer located the forgery suspect and another short pursuit ensued. This pursuit was also called off by APD officers due to the probability of locating the suspect at a later time.
APD Detectives continued the investigation and were able to obtain an arrest warrant on the suspect, Loal Ross King W/M 40 DOB 3-2-72 for Forgery by Passing and Evading Arrest/Detention in a Motor Vehicle both are state jail felonies.
On Wednesday 12-5-12 at approximately 3:15pm, members of the APD SWAT team located and arrested King at a motel in the 4100 block of Canyon Drive. King was also wanted on Bond Surrender warrants with the original charge of Assault by Strangulation and Escape out of Randall County. King was transported and booked into the Randall County Jail.
