APD investigating motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident today…

On November 29, 2012 at approximately 8:45 AM, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the 3800 block of East Amarillo Blvd.  Upon their arrival they discovered that a 2009 Chevy 4-door driven by Rachel Burgess, WF, 25 had been turning from southbound on N Hill to eastbound onto E Amarillo Blvd.  As she was turning she struck a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was crossing Amarillo Blvd from south to north.  The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.  The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept. Alcohol and speed are not factors in this collision. 

Additional information added by Crime Prevention Unit:  the pedestrian is a white male; his name has not yet been released.

***UPDATE 11-30-12, 10:55 AM***The pedestrian injured in this accident is Jerry Michael Snopak WM age 52 of Amarillo.  He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.  The case remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
