Local man, 73, arrested on multiple counts of sexual offenses

On July 16, 2012 the Amarillo Police Department received a report of possible child sexual exploitation that had occurred at on office on the 12th floor of the building at 600 S. Tyler.  The abuse was reported to have occurred over a period of time during 2010 and 2011.  Police detectives began an investigation and learned that the reported victim was currently living away from Amarillo.  Over the next several weeks, Detectives talked to witnesses as well as the initial victim.  The investigation led to the names of other potential witnesses and other potential victims, many of whom no longer lived in Amarillo. 

A prosecutor from the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s office was appointed to liaison with the Amarillo Police Department.  Amarillo Police Detectives developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the 12th floor offices of the building at 600 S. Tyler.  The search warrant was executed on November 07, 2012 at 5:00 PM.  The search warrant revealed evidence that police believe further corroborates the accounts of sexual exploitation of minors. 

During the ongoing criminal investigation, civil litigation was filed in connection with the same events that were already being investigated.  Detectives and prosecutors worked with the civil attorneys to verify that any additional victims had been identified and interviewed.  The investigation was presented to the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s Office for review. 

On 11-28-2012, criminal charges were filed in the 251st District Court.  Arrest warrants were issued for Stanley Marsh 3, W/M, 74.  Marsh is charged with the following offenses:

Count One: Sexual Performance By Child

Count Two: Sexual Assault – Child

Count Three: Sexual Assault – Child

Count Four: Sexual Performance By Child

 

  1. Cause Number 66295-Z

Count One: Sexual Performance By Child

Count Two: Sexual Assault – Child

Count Three: Sexual Assault – Child

Count Four: Sexual Performance By Child

  1. Cause Number 66296-Z

Count One: Sexual Performance By Child

Count Two: Sexual Assault – Child

Count Three: Sexual Assault – Child

 

The victims in these cases were minors at the time the offenses occurred.  Their names will not be released by the Amarillo Police Department.

 

Although a suspect has been charged in this case, the investigation will continue if new information develops.
